Bill Laswell has over
20 years' experience as a touring musician and
composer, and nearly 300 albums to his credit
as a bassist and producer. He has collaborated
with some of the most illustrious names in music
across all genres and boundaries, including
Zakir Hussain, Herbie Hancock, Mick Jagger,
Laurie Anderson, Pharoah Sanders, Yoko Ono,
Tony Williams, Iggy Pop, Brian Eno, Peter Gabriel,
The Last Poets, Buddy Miles, George Clinton,
Bootsy Collins, Afrika Bambaataa, Public Image
Ltd., and countless others. He has also organized
and produced recordings with master musicians
from around the world, having logged extensive
travel in Morocco and West Africa, India, Japan,
Cuba, Australia, Brazil, and numerous other
locations throughout Asia, Africa and South
America. |

An integral fixture
on New York's downtown "no wave" scene in
the late 70s and early 80s, Laswell has since
spawned a cult following among punks, ravers,
avant garde jazz fans and funk and hip-hop
heads for his legendary stage shows as a member
of progressive groups like Material, Third
Rail (with James Blood Ulmer and Bernie Worrell),
Painkiller (with John Zorn and Mick Harris),
Praxis (with Buckethead, Brain and DJ Disk)
and for impromptu live collaborations with
Zorn, Fred Frith, Graham Haynes, Nicky Skopelitis
and many more. |
