Karsh Kale is "riding
the landscape between organic and electric
traditions of the past, present and future,"
as one writer has put it. Born in the UK of
Indian parents and raised in the US, his schooling
in the fundamentals of jazz, rock, hip-hop
and modern electronic music play as much of
a role in his percussion and production style
as Indian classical and folk music. Whether
on tabla, behind a drum kit or on a set of
turntables, Karsh has built an amalgam of
sound he calls "Classical Science Fiction
From India," and the name sticks.

collaborated with artists such as DJ Spooky,
Herbie Hancock, Gigi, Sussan Deyhim and on
various Bill Laswell productions.
